VX – A hybrid event and community platform. VX is a Swiss army knife bringing live streaming, video calling, whiteboarding, immersive 3D experiences, rich media, and gamification all under one platform that is highly brandable and integrates efficiently.

VX App – A branded community app on Android and iOS that attendees can use to get notifications direct to their phones, network with other attendees and explore all the events available to them.

Sync – Smarter, simpler, more efficient scheduling and communications for events. Manage meetings, spaces, transport, travel, breakouts, workshops and speaker slots for global sales teams, conferences and internal events.

RSVP – Simple event registration and ticketing for events. Send branded invitations to your contact lists, track registrations, manage waitlists, build modular registration pages. Full e-commerce solution with coupons, conditional discounts, packages and integrations with leading payment gateways.

The role

As a Full Stack Software Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in enhancing our development processes, fostering innovation, and contributing to the overall success of our projects. You will collaborate closely with all team members and have a significant impact on the design, development, and deployment of our web and app solutions. The ideal candidate will possess a good understanding of mobile, backend and frontend technologies, strong problem-solving skills, and a passion for delivering high-quality software.

Our apps are used by a diverse set of global brands across aerospace, gaming, tech and media at events around the world. These include Disney, BBC Studios, Bombardier, Airbus, 10X Genomics, Collins Aerospace and many more. We believe that it’s vital for our engineers to have a customer-centric mindset, and you will be encouraged to interact directly with stakeholders from these top brands as we support and grow their usage.

We have a flexible working policy, allowing team members to define how many days are spent in the HQ and from home. We have a fun and diverse office, and there is opportunity to travel around the world to the events we run to support live deployments and maintain/support during events and shows alongside PM/production teams from our partner agencies.

You will report to the Head of Engineering.

The tech stack

The gther platform uses Python (Django, Flask), JavaScript (JQuery, Vue.JS , Node.js), Flutter as well as PHP together with third-party services such as Mux, Twilio, Mailjet and Matomo, underpinned by AWS EC2, Fargate, Auth0, Mongo, PostgreSQL. Our code is stored in Github, using CircleCI and AWS CDK, and we make heavy use of containerisation.

Responsibilities

  • Implement backend services and APIs to support our applications.
  • Participate in frontend site architecture and development.
  • Adhere to coding standards and conduct code reviews.
  • Contribute to testing with unit, integration, end-to-end and load tests.
  • Maintain and implement CI/CD pipelines to support our mobile apps, web apps, and DevOps infrastructure.
  • Engage in architectural discussions, propose technical solutions, and stay abreast of industry trends.
  • Effectively communicate complex solutions to non-technical stakeholders and maintain documentation.
  • Ensure solutions are GDPR compliant and adhere to cybersecurity best practices.

Skill set

  • Proficiency in Django, Flask, and Flutter: Strong experience in these frameworks is essential for mobile, backend and frontend development.
  • Familiarity with Cloud platforms, particularly AWS with services like EC2, ECS, and RDS.
  • Confident with Docker and Shell/Bash scripting.
  • Good understanding of Git and branching strategies.
  • Experience with HTML, CSS, and JavaScript. Vue.js, React or Bootstrap are a bonus.
  • Strong understanding of software testing principles, including unit testing, integration testing, and end-to-end testing, and experience with testing frameworks like K6 and Cypress.
  • CI/CD and DevOps: Good understanding of DevOps principles and experience with CI/CD pipelines, preferably using tools like CircleCI and yaml.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or higher degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field. Alternatively, we will consider candidates with equivalent professional experience.
  • 3+ years of professional software development experience in building mobile and web applications.

Bonus skills

  • Database Management: Experience with databases like PostgreSQL, MongoDB, and Redis, including database design, optimization, and ORM.
  • Collaboration tools: Knowledge and experience with like Jira and Confluence or similar.
  • Frontend JavaScript Frameworks: Experience with frontend frameworks like React and Vue.JS.
  • Prior experience in the Event industry or related domain.
